Jennifer of The Left-Handed Crocheter

Picture

She is a 43-year-old mother of 6 and grandmother of 3. She has 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a wonderful boyfriend of 16 years. She tells me her favorite colors are turquoise, teal and jade. She  loves a good thunder and lightning storm. The ocean is her absolute favorite place to be. Scroll down to read the full interview to find out what's on her hook, where she sees herself in 5 years, and more!

Tell me a little bit about The Left-Handed Crocheter.

Tell me a little bit about The Left-Handed Crocheter.

I learned how to crochet when I was a teenager, which wasn't easy because I didn't know any other left-handed people. I had a right-handed friend who was finally able to teach me by having me sit across from her and copy what she did. When my kids were young, I didn't have much time for it. Now that they're older, it's much easier for me to focus on crochet. I absolutely love designing something new, even when it's frustrating me and I have to set it aside for awhile.

I have two kiddos under six. It is definitely a challenge to find time for everything! I am glad you stuck with it and have found the time to design because you create some of the cutest stuff!

Where do you draw your inspiration from? Do you ever lose your crojo?

My inspiration comes from a lot of different places. Other designers, video games that I play (Animal Crossing is a big one), my kids and grand kids. And stickers. I love looking at the stickers at Michaels because they often inspire me to create. Any time I lose my crojo, I go and wander the aisles of Michaels.

How do people react when you tell them you crochet for a living?

People who don't crochet don't understand it. lol I sometimes show them photos of the things I create, and I generally get positive responses.

psst... hey.. everyone reading this.. Did you know that The Left-Handed Crocheter has a YouTube channel?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I'm hoping to have an actual book published and on the shelves by then. But mostly, I see myself still designing and enjoying the wonderful crochet community.

I can't wait to see that happen for you! I just love seeing everyone in our community grow and succeed!
