My spunky 5 year old daughter gets all the credit for this fun project! She often requests a variety of crocheted thingamabobs and I always oblige! Who are we to stifle our kiddos creativity? Nevertheless of how this pattern came to fruition I hope you enjoy it!
You will need a 5.00 mm crochet hook, tapestry needle, scissors, and 20 yards of Department 71 Vanity yarn in the color caramel. Optional you can use any color brand of 5 bulky weight yarn.
-Sl st: slip stitch
-Sc: single crochet
-Sc2tog: single crochet 2 stitches together/single crochet decrease
This is a beginner friendly pattern. This is a one size pattern. This pattern is worked in rows for the most part. The ch 1 does not count as a stitch unless stated otherwise.
Row 1: Ch 13. Place 1 sc into the 2nd ch from your hook. Sc across. (12 sts)
Row 2-8: Ch 1 and turn your work. Sc across. (12 sts)
Row 9: Ch 1 and turn your work. Sc2tog. Sc in the next 8 sts. Sc2tog. (10 sts)
Row 10: Ch 1 and turn your work. Sc2tog. Sc in the next 6 sts. Sc2tog. (8 sts)
Row 11: Ch 1 and turn your work. Sc2tog. Sc in the next 4 sts. Sc2tog. (6 sts)
Row 12: Ch 1 and turn your work. Sc2tog. Sc in the next 2 sts. Sc2tog. (4 sts)
Row 13: Ch 1 and turn your work. Sc2tog. Then sc2tog across the last 2 sts. (2 sts)
Row 14: Ch 1 and turn your work. Sc2tog. (1 sts)
Do not Break yarn! Ch 1 and sc around your entire piece. Break yarn with a long tail for sewing, Your project is complete! Just sew securely into place on the garment of your choosing.
Tip: Remember to not sew across the top of your pocket otherwise it will not be functional!
